Springfield Armory SA-16A2: The Most Clone Correct M16A2 Clone? [First Look]

NEW from Springfield Armory comes the SA-16A2! This is an M16A2 clone made by Springfield Armory. The M16A2 served as the primary rifle for the USMC from 1983 until the late 1990s. The US Army adopted the M16A2 in 1986 and similarly used it until the late '90s when both were replaced by the M16A4 rifle and later the M4 Carbine.

from forged 7075 T6 Aluminum with a classic A2 fixed carry handle, 20″ 1:7 twist 5.56 NATO barrel, A2 Birdcage, bayonet lug, and more.

The lower receiver is marked with “Government Property” markings as well as a non-functional “burst” selector marking

Compleating the M16A2 look is the round and ribbed handguard with integral aluminum heat shields for a comfortable shooting experience.

One departure from being clone correct is the Accu-Tite tensioning system to eliminate movement between the upper and lower receivers.

The SA-16A2 bolt carrier group is made with an M16-pattern carrier, Carpenter 158 steel bolt, staked gas key, is High-pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected (HPT/MPI) for maximum quality control and durability.

And we can't forget the buttstock! Classic A2 complete with trapdoor buttplate for all your cleaning kit or skittles storage needs.
