The Keyport Modular Multi-Tool is a combination multitool that handles not just some of your EDC needs but some tech-related ones too. Designed by Josh Downes, the new Keyport designs (Slide 3.0 and Pivot) are currently on Kickstarter. They'll work with your existing home, office and vehicles keys, and have the capacity to accept an LED flashlight, Bluetooth locator and knife blade. The Keyport is intended to complement an individual's smart phone by collecting most, if not all, your pocket clutter into one location. It will consolidate up to 6 items (like your keys) into one “compact hi-tech key fob.” Accessories can be added or removed using Keyports device modulars, which can then be switched out or replaced as needed. The original Keyport was customizable in a number of ways, including their proprietary, interchangeable key blanks, a number of modular tools (pen, bottle opener, mini-light, flash drive, etc.) A number of different color and camouflage prints are available, as are a provision for custom text or logo. The two new models retain a high level of modularity and are built of metal to make them stronger. Each is also fitted with a low profile lanyard attachment. Details below. Keyport Modular Multi-Tool Slide 3.0 The Slide 3.0 is constructed of aircraft grade aluminum and hardened steel spring. Specs: Aircraft grade aluminum body Stainless steel frame Nickel-plated brass Nodes Soft-Touch removable side plates Easily removable end cap Low profile lanyard attachment which locks in place when not in use 4-port & 6-port versions Compatible with all Keyport Blades, including a wide range of chipped auto & moto keys Tech & tool modules optional “The Slide 3.0 is compatible with all previous Keyport Blades and inserts excluding the bottle opener and mini-light. We have replaced the mini-light with two modular options – the locator module that includes a light (between 4 and 6 lumens) or the more powerful mini-flashlight (approx. 12 lumens). We are working on a new bottle opener for the 3.0. Transponder chips embedded in existing chipped barcode inserts or chipped side plates will need to be transferred to the new modular chip side plate that is compatible with the 3.0. Like its predecessor, the 3.0 includes removable side plates, which can now be designed in a range of materials – plastic, metal, G10, wood, even bone. We will begin to explore these options later in the year. But we think the most exciting improvement to the Slide 3.0 is the addition of modularity on both sides to incorporate a whole new range of tech tools and options. There's a BLE locator with LED to address lost keys (works with the TRACKR app) a knife module with a blade from none other than Klecker Knives and other modules under development. These include an emergency phone charger, charger cables and universal auto remote. All with work with the Slide 3.0 discussed above and the Pivot, which brings us to the… Keyport Modular Multi-Tool Keyport Pivot The Pivot uses the keys you already have jangling around your pocket and gets 'em all located in one place. It's expandable from the 4-9 keys so often carried by the typical person up to the 15 usually only seen hanging from the end of biker chains or carried by people anticipating gladitorial combat. “Designed with a special locking mechanism, the Pivot does not loosen over time, which is a frequent issue with other key holders. No washers are needed in between keys as the Pivot features a built-in spring washer for the perfect tension to ensure smooth operation.” Specs: Aircraft grade aluminum scales & stainless steel components Special locking mechanism to prevent unintended loosening Built-in spring for perfect tension Low profile lanyard attachment which locks in place when not in use Modular “Designed specifically for traditional keys, the Pivot is not compatible with existing Keyport Blades and some inserts. Existing pen and USB inserts can be modified to fit the Pivot, and we are working on developing a full range of Pivot compatible insert options. Like the Slide, the Pivot is modular, and all of the modular add-ons are compatible with both devices so it is easy to start with a Pivot and then graduate to a Slide without needing to buy a new set of modules.” Learn more about all of it right here.
