So you work to improve your shooting skills and you carry some stuff that'll put holes in someone (or you); do you train to address that? What's more likely when it comes to exigent situations…using your Concealed Carry license on a carjacker or having to help someone in a car crash? You've trained for one, why not train for the other? Dark Angel Medical asks questions like, What would you do if your child got choked and stopped breathing? What would you do if you witnessed a multi-vehicle collision? What would you do if you saw a man get robbed and assaulted? What would you do if someone had a negligent discharge at the range and the bullet struck the person you were shooting with? What would you do if your neighborhood got struck by a tornado and there were multiple victims? Kerry Davis, Dark Angel Medical's HMFIC and lead instructor, is coming to the booming metropolis of Miami, Oklahoma, right there Ottawa County (between Tulsa and Joplin off I-44) in October (the 10th and 11th, specifically). The Tactical Aid Course requires no previous medical experience. Think of it as T-CCC for civilians and LEOs; a basic primer on the HABCs (Hemorrhage, Airway, Breathing and Circulation), moving and positioning the injured and the proper use of cover and concealment. Among other things you'll lear to properly using Nasopharyngeal airways, tourniquets and commercial coagulants. Note that this might be something to recommend to your family and friends too; our digital editor sent his teenage kids to this class a couple years back. They were in a class along with several armed civilians, LEOs and firemen. They had a good time and much learning occurred; in fact both got answers to questions they hadn't before thought to ask. Learn more about this class here: https://darkangelmedical.com/our-training/ Do you train like you bleed? What are your thoughts on trauma preparedness? Don't live near NE Oklahoma, SW Missouri, SE Kansas, NW Arkansas? No worries. Check out the rest of the Dark Angel Medical training schedule right here. Note that if you are going to train in Miami, you'll need to pronounce it like the locals, not like the city in Florida – Mi-am-uh. You'll be about an hour from the J.M. Davis Gun Museum (which is awesome) and approximately the same distance from Big R's Bar-B-Q in Joplin. Don't want to go that far for chow? Check out Clanton's, and stick around long enough to visit the Vintage Iron Motorcycle Museum. You can follow Dark Angel Medical on Instagram here (@dark_angel_medical). They're on Facebook here.
