The weather is bad right now in a lot of places, but that's no reason not to train – or at least to start planning your Spring and Summer training now. Michigan Defensive Firearms Institute (MDFI) has a number of courses in the works, including their most popular course – YSINTG. You Suck It's Not The Gun. YSINTG is apparently their most popular class and the one most frequently repeated by students. Says MDFI, YSINTG was developed,

“..after witnessing scores of shooters blaming their pistol sights for missing their intended targets. YSINTG shows [that]…focusing on…the core fundamentals of shooting will greatly improve the marksmanship of any shooter…”

Train MDFI - Michigan Defensive Firearms Institute Utrecht on the RangeAt $175 for one full day of training, YSINTG might be a great way to start your year (assuming you haven't been out to the range already). You'll need a handgun, 350 rounds of ammunition and possibly a second weapon (it's always good to take a spare, if you own one, in case of catastrophic failure, particularly if you've traveled a long way to train). You'll also obviously need a holster, ears and eyes. Note that MDFI does not allow trigger finger release retention release holsters, like the Blackhawk SERPA, nor shoulder holsters or cross-draw holsters.

The next YSINTG is in April, but it's full. There's another in June and again in July, and more later in the year, but you don't have to wait on those. There are other options in the meantime. They're offering Emergency Casualty Care in just 3 weeks; a Greenside Tracking course in April (with RECOIL and OFFGRID contributor Freddy Osuna teaching) and a basic carbine class in May.
