RECOILtv Training Tuneups: 3-Style Pistol When it comes to shooting pistols, speed and precision are the ultimate goals for any accomplished shooter. Whether on the range, in military or LE scenarios, or even in competition shooting, quick, precise shots are required for success. Instead of standing 10 yards from a paper target and shooting groups all day, shooters can enhance their range time and test their abilities by running drills. Shooting drills are designed to help us keep our skills and fundamentals sharp so that when we need to apply them, even in sudden or uncomfortable situations, we can do so effectively. No matter what discipline of shooting you are involved in, it is important to remember that your skills are perishable. In this installment of Training Tuneups, Dan Brokos of Lead Faucet Tactical, takes us through the 3-style pistol drill. This drill is a good test of both speed and trigger manipulation, as well as a good way to gauge your efficiency when shooting weak side and one-handed. This drill involves three different draw and shooting styles: standard draw with two-handed shooting position, strong hand only draw and shooting position, and support hand only draw and shooting. Each position requires the shooter to put as many rounds in an 8-inch dot target from 7 meters, in a prescribed amount of time. 5 seconds, 6 seconds, and 7.5 seconds is your time limit for each respective string, and with a goal of a 25 score. Dan was able to get a total of 43 shots off, but one shot landed outside of the circle, giving him a score of 42. Can you beat Dan’s score of 42? The next time you head to the range, give this drill a try and see how your pistol skills stack up. Want to see more from RECOILtv? WATCH NOW!
