Fighting in and around vehicles is something we rarely get to train for, which is too bad. It's not just a valuable skill set, it's fun as hell. We've previously shown videos and imagery from Sentinel Concepts and Graham Combat with students working in vehicles. Here are some shots from last months Costa Ludus' 3-day Vehicle Elements Theory (VET) course in Wyoming doing the same sort of things – it should be significant that so many of the TTPs (Tactics, Techniques and Procedures) are consistent from instructor to instructor. There a number of very important considerations to fighting in and around a vehicle, whether it's a CCW holder defending against a carjacking or a PSD team in a bad ass suburban with blacked out windows. Like the students and instructors in the Sentinel Concepts and Graham Combat classes, here too you will see people dealing with the unique considerations of fighting from inside a vehicle by using specific methods – including the one frequently referred to as ‘temple index'. That is a method of manipulating the pistol that is always guaranteed to raise a ruckus, particularly with people who don't understand why it is used (and whe RECOILweb editor David Reeder, who was recently introduced to the intended whys and wherefores of “temple index”, will be writing about it soon. His article will include some thoughts and commentary from several of the most respected instructors in the country – many of whom have diametrically opposing views on the matter.
