Is 3-Gun Nation for Sale?

We caught word that 3-Gun Nation was up for sale, then did a little digging and found that it wasn't the complete story. The listing appeared on BizBuySell, a resource for business activities. It was surprising to see 3-Gun Nation as being listed for sale because they have paved the way for mulitgun shooting sports. Why would they want to sell? Is there instability? What changes could we expect as a result of the possible sale?

3-Gun Nation has been at the head of multigun competitions since its inception in 2009. Many conclude they have been successful due to improving the end-user experience by building events that were high-energy, fun, and repeatable. Shooters at all levels left 3-Gun Nation events being able to hit most of the targets, and usually walking away with a prize that was equal to, or more than, the cost of the match fee. As opposed to local matches that are largely a “one and done” event, 3-Gun Nation built an organization that has a large reach with social media, its digital magazine, multiple events across the country, a TV show (now aired online), and the 3-Gun Nation newsletter.

To clear up the confusion about the listing, we contacted Pete Brown, President and Founder of 3-Gun Nation. Regarding the status of the organization being for sale, Brown clarified:

“We listed 3-Gun Nation as an investment opportunity to evoke response from outside influences to further drive the sport to where we believe it can go. And, sometimes you have to think outside the box in creative ways to generate additional momentum for what we’ve already created. We believe this sport should be at the forefront of the gun industry and sports landscape. The site we listed on is one of the few sites to find like-minded business individuals.”

Essentially, 3-Gun Nation is looking for investors to assist in its growth. Instead of continuing to look inside this industry, they're trying to diversify. For a company that's been called the X-Games of the shooting sports, it's probably a smart move.

When discussing plans for the future, Brown stated, “We’re relaunching a new site, it should be up mid-June. An eCommerce store will also be launched, and will include exclusive discounts that will be made available to our members.”
