SOG 30th Anniversary Tech Bowie and The Trident

SOG Knives and Tools (@SOGknives) was founded back in 1986 by a young designer named Spencer Frazer — if you do the math, you'll figure they're now celebrating their 30th anniversary. The first knife Frazer created was the SOG Bowie, inspired by a trip to Vietnam, as SOG describes it, “…members of a highly classified US special ops unit – known as MACV-SOG – carried a unique combat knife into the jungle on covert missions.”

Mr. Frazer wanted to give homage to the men of this command.

To celebrate their 30th anniversary (and no doubt partly in reminiscence of their first blade) SOG is releasing two new knife designs; the Tech Bowie and the Trident. There will be just 300 of each knife made.

30TH Anniversary Series Fixed – Tech BowieFor those who are looking for the style of the SOG Bowie with a modern treatment, look no further than the Tech Bowie. The Tech Bowie has morphed into a top-notch work knife with the use of modern technology and materials. All the metal parts and including the blade, crossguard and pommel are hardcased black TiNi coated. The tactile TPR handle gives a contemporary touch to the traditional leather washers. The thick (0.24″) AUS-8 blade is topped off the same blade grind as the SOG Bowie. The sculpted crossguard, deep hollow grinds and precision detailing, and faceted tip are unmistakable signatures of SOG.

This 30th Anniversary Series of the Tech Bowie boasts a special textured tigerstripe finish, Anniversary engraving, and individual serial numbers. It comes in a stained wood presentation box with a custom challenge coin, certificate of authenticity, and 30th Anniversary patch. Only 300 in production.

30TH Anniversary Series Folder – Trident designed to tackle any situation, the SOG Trident series is ready to go at a moment’s notice with its assisted opening mechanism, slot cutter, and durable AUS-8 stainless steel blade. Borrowing elements from our original SOG Bowie, Tomcat, SEAL PUP, and Flash; the Trident fits right into the SOG lineup.

SOG’s patented Assisted Technology (S.A.T. ™) enables the user to open the knife quickly with any hand using the double thumb studs. Built into the handle is the slot cutter that can cut thin rope, belts, or webbing without opening the blade. The Trident series employ blades made of reliable AUS-8 and handles made of textured and durable glass-reinforced nylon.

In use, the Arc-Actuator™ blade lock is tough yet easy to release. When the blade is closed, the built-in safety lock can keep unwanted openings while being carried using the reversible low-carry pocket clip.
