Springfield Armory is set to redefine the classic 1911 with the introduction of its new 1911 Agency Optic System (AOS) pistols. This latest offering combines the legendary performance of the 1911 with the modern capabilities of optics integration, straight from the factory.

In collaboration with Agency Arms, Springfield has engineered the 1911 AOS to seamlessly integrate with a variety of popular red dot sights, including those from RMR, Shield, Delta Point Pro, and Docter. This enhanced design provides shooters with unparalleled flexibility, allowing for precise customization to improve performance.

Each 1911 AOS pistol is shipped with a cover plate equipped with a rear sight that maintains the classic 1911 slide contour. Constructed from billet steel for exceptional durability and fit.

But to add a red dot requires the purchase of the AOC plate in addition to the base pistol. The good news is if you buy a new AOS pistol, you get one plate at a major discount.

MSRP for the 1911 AOS pistols is $967 to $1,378. The discounted plate is $49 and full price for other plates is $130.

At launch, the 1911 AOS line includes the 1911 Emissary, the 1911 Operator, and the 1911 Ronin, all available in both 9mm and .45, and in 5” and 4.25” configurations. Notably, the new 1911 Operator 4.25” AOS, featuring a lightweight aluminum frame, joins the Operator series for the first time.

Springfield has long been one of the best entry-level 1911s on the market. Building on that design with a full-featured optics plate that shares plates with other Springfield offerings like the double-stack Prodigy is a nice step forward.

“The 1911 is one of the most revered and proven pistols in history,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing at Springfield Armory. “With the 1911 AOS, we’re modernizing this iconic design to meet the demands of the 21st century by integrating it with today’s advanced optics.”
