It was just a 30 minute jaunt from Austin to the Best of the West Shooting Sports range where it was held. Thirteen shooting bays, rifle ranges stretching from 50 to 1,000 yards, a sporting clays section, even a less-lethal training area…good times. Nearly 40 manufacturers were setup showcasing their latest wares. There were sales tents and most importantly: funnel cakes shooting. Noveske, FN, Sig Sauer, Dead Air, Hk, PWS, Gemtech–you get the idea (For a complete list of exhibitors, follow this link). Oh, and ammunition was included with your admission price. If you missed out, you can mark your 2016 calendars for Oct 14-16 (they've added an extra day for the 2016 event). In the meantime, we've brought some visuals and occasional commentary from last weekend. This isn't all encompassing by any means but it'll give you a good idea of what the event entails. You can visit the Texas Firearms Festival webpage here, or give them a look on Facebook or Instagram. Without further ado: [Click on Any Image to start Gallery View] The STI 2011 DVC shoots just as good as it looks. You may recall us talking about it before. Staying with the 1911 theme for a minute with Republic Forge. Rogue American Apparel had some 1911 artwork Tracking Point was on the rifle range As was Bergara WarSport FN had their Military Collector Series, which will be dropping very soon. YHM showed off some of their KeyMod accessories, as well as the their new QD Blast Deflector. There are always vehicles too. DSG Arms had the bigassed trailer of doom. KNS Precision and HPR Ammunition both had tricked out vehicles (I'll still root for the Ballistic Bronco in a fight). Sig Sauer (note John Hollister making fun of me for wearing earpro by taking his out. Yes, it was suppressed). Brethren Armament Cobalt Kinetics. The twin forward assists serve as bolt releases, and it was nowhere as weird as I thought it would be. The rifles look straight out of Battlestar Galactica. PWS and Gemtech were teamed up together no doubt in some sort of Idaho cabal. No complaints, as it's not a bad combination by any stretch. Hk That's all for now–until next time.
