Federal Premium Ammunition has just released Federal Ballistics, a free iOS and Android app. Since 1922, Federal Premium Ammunition has been providing hunters and shooters with high-quality shotshell, centerfire, and rimfire ammunition. Their new app includes a ballistic calculator, recommendations for ammo to fit your needs, a tool to find your nearest Federal dealer, and access to the NSSF's list of shooting ranges near you. The ballistic calculator provides a simple and easy method to calculate the trajectory for any rifle or handgun load. You can input specifics for your ammunition (e.g. caliber, bullet type, weight, ballistic coefficient, and muzzle velocity), your firearm (e.g. sight height and zero range), and environmental inputs (e.g. temperature, wind speed, and altitude). The calculator will then produce a ballistic table at various distances of the bullet drop, wind drift, velocity, and energy. You can view results in imperial and metric, and in MOA or Mils. Conveniently, the app doesn't require a data connection to perform its calculations, so even if your range is in no man's land or if you're in the field hunting, you can still generate your ballistic tables. The load recommendation tool will provide you with guidance on the Federal Premium ammunition choices that fit your requirements. You can review loads that are suitable for various different types of game, target shooting, or home defense.
