Learn More If you love the idea of a big bore pistol and you're on a budget, the new Remington RP45 might be an option to consider. Remington has announced that the new caliber option has shipped to retailers in both a night sight variant and a non-night sight variant that seemingly shares the same dimensions of the RP9 introduced last year. While the striker fired RP series received a lukewarm welcome last year, the RP series shouldn't be overlooked with an impressive list of features for its price bracket. Looking over the spec sheet, it appears that the RP45 is the same dimensions as the RP9 and might make it a reasonable option for those with smaller hands that want a double stack pistol in .45 ACP. The fact that the pistol is of the same dimensions almost confirms the suspicion some reviewers had that the RP9 was actually developed as a .45 ACP pistol and adapted to 9mm so Remington could introduce it in the most popular caliber at the line's launch. Some of the features from the Remington web site: REMINGTON RP45 FEATURES Smooth, light and crisp single-action trigger – consistent and smooth, with short tactile reset Ergonomic polymer frame fits 95% of all shooters Ambidextrous slide control “Fighting surface” on rear sight – for one-hand slide operation Optimized grip angle – reduces felt recoil and increases shootability Trigger guard undercut – allows higher hand hold for increased control Drift adjustable sights – easily adjusts sights to user preference Easy loading, double-stack magazines PVD finish on slide and barrel for maximum durability Small, medium and large replaceable backstrap Remington will be shipping the new RP45 with two 15 round magazines in states where possession of standard capacity mags is allowed or 10 round mags in restricted states and three back straps that allow the shooter to tailor the grip to their hand size.
