Friday Night Gun Porn: Archer Manufacturing

Archer Manufacturing is a veteran owned firearms manufacturer based in Austin, TX. According to information provided online they've been around for over 30 years, so they can't be named for a certain television animated hero (which is at least a little sad). Still, they seem to make some good looking guns and they seem to have a reputation for quality. Among the long guns they build; the AM-10, AM-15 and Kanon 12 Gauge. They are a supporter of Warrior Shoot Event Group.

Says AM,

This is an AM-15F with a 16 in. Shilen Riflse Inc. match barrel in .300Blk, an ALG Defense EMR M-LOK rail and Magpul CTR.

AM-10 16 in. .308 with Magpul MBUS on a Midwest Industries 15 in. M-LOK rail, 1:7 twist match Shilen barrel and ALG Defense guts.

Archer Manufacturing Talks Reliability

The heart of the AR platform is its Bolt carrier Group. If it is not built from quality components, Shot peened/high pressure tested/magnetic particle inspected, and assembled correctly you have an expensive straight pull bolt action rifle.

We contacted Ned Christiansen from Michiguns Ltd. and begged him to build us a .308 AR version of his famous MOACKS carrier key staking tool. Ned provided us with one so that we can stake our bolt carriers in house and not worry about the carrier keys shooting loose.

We have not had good luck with aftermarket coatings (With the exception of Robar’s NP3) and found internally that good old phosphate bolt carriers retain lubrication longer than anything we have tried.

For weapons lubrication we have been using and recommending SLIP 2000 EWL for several years and are in the process of getting samples of that lube shipped with each gun.

We looked at and tried several different DPMS compatible bolt carrier groups and finally met up with the folks from toolcraft inc at the SHOT show last year. They are now supplying our bolt carrier groups for all of our AR platform firearms. They are built correctly and stand behind their products. Our bolt carrier groups all carry an unconditional lifetime warranty. If you break a bolt lug or cam pin/etc…we replace it.
