SHOT Show 2017: Can-Am Introduces New Outlanders The Can-Am Outlander XT family includes many value-added, performance enhancing parts to that offer a functional purpose, benefits to the rider and an improved appearance. New tires and wheels as well as a revised D.E.S.S. key design highlight the Can-Am XT package updates for 2017. Three colors are available this year, including a new painted White & Black finish and the industry-exclusive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo. 3 Rotax V-Twin engine options The muscular 89-hp, 80º 976cc liquid-cooled eight-valve Rotax V-twin engine in the Outlander 1000R ATV leads its class in performance. The Outlander 850 family is powered by a 78-hp, liquid-cooled, 80º 854cc V-twin engine. Designed to compete and beat 700-class competitive ATVs, the Outlander 650 ATVs rules its class thanks to its hearty 650cc liquid-cooled Rotax V-Twin power plant that produces 62 horsepower. Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) The Tri-Mode DPS system features three modes (MIN, MED and MAX) allowing riders to select the desired amount of steering assist to adjust to the terrain requirements and to his riding style. All modes offer less assist at high speed to keep maximum steering feel to the rider and more assist at low speed to reduce steering effort. Visco-Lok QE front differential All DPS-equipped models come with the Visco-Lok QE calibration giving an even quicker engagement of the front differential. NEW 14-inch (35.6 cm) cast-aluminum wheels Fourteen-inch (35.6 cm) cast-aluminum wheels with a unique design are new for 2017. The cast-aluminum 8-spoke wheels on the XT models have a unique, custom-like finish compared to the standard model and a ultra strong centreless design. The XT models will include an all-black wheel. NEW 26-inch (66 cm) ITP TerraCross tires NEW 26-inch (66 cm) ITP TerraCross tires supply versatile traction in both hardpack and softer terrain. 3,000-pound WARN† winch WARN is a highly respected name in the off-road industry. The Outlander XT has a 3,000-pound (1,361 kg) winch with roller fairlead. Heavy-duty front and rear bumpers For an edgier and more rugged trim, the XT models include heavy-duty front and rear bumpers. Handlebar wind deflectors Wind deflectors provide improved protection from brush and cold weather and also offer a distinguished look. 625-W magneto The most powerful magneto in the industry can be found on the Outlander XT. At 625 watts, it means more amps for running accessories. NEW Radio Frequency (RF) Digitally Encoded Security System (D.E.S.S.) The new RF D.E.S.S. has been improved and redesigned on all Outlander ATVs. Each ATV includes both a performance key and regular key. This revised setup also aligns with this current proven technology in other BRP brands. Can-Am is the only manufacturer to offer a factory-installed anti-theft device as standard equipment. Colors available The Outlander XT 1000R, 850 and 650 are offered in painted White & Black, water-dipped Brushed Aluminum and the industry-exclusive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country Camo finish.
