Learn More We have a soft spot in our heart for the ASP pistol, often colloquially referred to as a Guttersnipe due to its unique sights. In fact, we built our own M&P9-based version a couple of years ago. The distinguishing features of the ASP were its compact, dehorned, carry-focused size, its unique one-piece iron sights, and clear windows on the grip and magazine to reveal how many rounds were left in the gun. Well, EAA shares our affinity for the ASP, and at the 2019 NRA Annual Meeting, they unveiled their own modern take on that time-honored design using another time-honored design — the 1911 platform. The result is a gun that you can't help but appreciate. Dubbed the MC1911SC Ultimate, it's an Officer's style 1911, with a 3.5-inch bushing-less cone barrel and chopped grip. All corners and controls are melted, while the front strap and mainspring housing are checkered. In place of the ASP's Guttersnipe sighting system is a slide cut for a red dot optic, while EAA replicates the distinctive magazine witness windows with G10 starburst grips and clear windows. The trigger is tuned at approximately 3.5 pounds. Available in black cerakote, the Ultimate's MSRP will be $799. EAA also added another competition pistol to its roster, the 5-inch MC1911 Match Elite. The Match Elite is a government-model 1911 with a modest checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing, an extended ambidextrous safety, a magazine well, and an extended beavertail grip safety. The slide features front serrations and an adjustable competition rear sight. The trigger breaks at about 2.5 pounds and sends rounds down a match barrel with a tapered cone lockup. The pistol's finished off with a hard chrome finish. As compared to the existing Match pistol, the new model adds the cone barrel, mag well, and hard chrome finish. The Match Elite will retail for $989. Both pistols are manufactured by GiRSAN in Turkey.
