Learn More Fortis Manufacturing has grown from its humble beginning selling patches online to making some of the arguably best AR rails and accessories in the market. I've run their REV rails on my ARs for a few years and love the fit, finish and functionality. I was excited to see their new offerings as they debuted for the first time at SHOT Show. The new rail will be dubbed “Night Rail” and will be available soon in both Keymod and M-Lok versions. Available lengths from 7 in. all the way up to 15 in. and everything in between. Fortis will continue using 6061 for the new rail. The black nitrided barrel nut will be made of 4140 steel. Fortis representative Paul Hwang expects pricing to fall somewhere between the REV and Switch rails, but does not have a firm price yet. We will be patiently waiting to see this come to market and look forward to seeing in action. Another new offering from Fortis is their open-source blast mitigation device appropriately named the Control Shield. The shroud only mounts with muzzle devices that are compatible, however Fortis is freely distributing their licensed design so other manufacturers can add it to their muzzle device designs. Fortis and the Rainier Arms XTC 2.0 are currently compatible. The Control Shield is made of 4140 Steel and weighs 4.2 ounces. MSRP is set at $99.00 and available from Fortis direct or its dealers. The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services. Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc. View imagery from our coverage of last year's SHOT Show right here. 2016 SHOT Show January 18 — Media on the Range (numerous shooting facilities in and around Las Vegas) January 19–22, 2016 Sands Expo and Convention Center Las Vegas, Nevada Hours: Tuesday, January 19 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 21 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Friday, January 22 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Explore RECOILweb:Youth Brigade: Autumn's Armory InterviewAmerican Made Giveaway: Bravo Company MFG, Inc Upper Receiver GroupShooting Playgrounds: K&M Precision Rifle TrainingPreview - Visit - Aberdeen Proving Ground Museum NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Target Pack from RECOILFor years, RECOIL magazine has treated its readers to a full-size (sometimes full color!) shooting target tucked into each big issue.
