Learn More Diamondback Firearms has announced the release of their new DB FS Nine Pistol. It's their entry into the full-size, polymer double-action striker-fired handgun market (say ‘full-size polymer double-action striker-fired' 3 times fast after a couple shots of Patrón I dare ya). Some of you are no doubt groaning, or perhaps even crying out, “O ye sainted fathers, thank you! A thousand times thank you! We have so needed another full-size polymer double-action striker-fired handgun!” To you I say – give it a chance. I haven't had it on the range. I just got the word a few hours ago, but I think competition is a Good Thing. Is the DB 9mm going to be the next Glock or M&P? It's doubtful, but we didn't expect those before we saw them either. I will keep an open mind and ask you to do the same – at least until after we've seen some testing on it. The black Melonited DB 9mm is described as having an “ergonomically driven polymer double stack frame with a [Melonited] stainless steel slide” and “tactile-enhanced grip.” The slide has front and rear serrations. Diamondback advises the pistol has been built with a flared magwell to assist in speedy, efficient reloads. They further advise they have incorporated a “…trigger safety and firing pin block safety with a short, positive reset, minimizing trigger travel for faster cycle times.” Trigger weight is listed as 5.5 #. The weapon features a cocking indicator at the rear of the slide and fixed 3-dot sights. It has an integrated PIc rail, a 4.75″ Chromemoly barrel to provide a 6.25″ sight radius – overall length is 7.8 in and it weighs 21 1/2 oz. Magazine capacity (one will ship with each purchased pistol) is 15+1. Interestingly, they are also offering a free NRA membership with purchase. MSRP: $483.34. I will advise if I am able to put one through its paces, or if someone else does – probably someone like Iain. He always gets to play with the cool toys. I think it's because he talks funny and says things like SHEDyool instead of schedule. More to follow on the DB FS Nine.
