Gear Outta The Closet: The Decima from Ontario Knife Company Recoil Staff December 9, 2015 Join the Conversation At RECOIL, we review every product fairly and without bias. Learn More Everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to tactical knives: fixed or folder, long or short, straight and stabby or curved and vicious. We’re no different and in fact we love having choices when picking the right blade for the job. Narrowing our focus to look specifically at fixed blade options, Ontario Knife Company produced a serious and affordable contender with the Decima, an 8-inch overall length single edged knife with a 3-inch blade. The Decima is part of the OKC Fortune Series which is their tactical line, made right here in the USA. With a fishbone-style black and blue G10 Micarta handle and gray powder coated 420 stainless steel blade, this knife felt very well balanced and comfortable in either hand. At the moment, we are carrying it support side, tip up in a TekLok sheath, and have not noticed any of the discomfort we find when trying to carry larger fixed blades. At an overall weight of only 9 ounces, the Decima should fit very easily into your EDC without weighing you down. The jimping is straight and solid, providing a comfortable rest for the thumb without being overly aggressive, and the handle has just enough texture to it that you know it is not going to slip out of your hand. We tried it with bare as well as gloved hands and the purchase was solid either way. At a street price of around $80, the Decima has a mid-range price tag for a high quality fixie. You can find Ontario Knife Company online here, or their Facebook page, Twitter, or Youtube.
