Slangvel, a manufacturer of excellent boonie-hats and other covers, announced today they'll be offering some of their gear at a slight discount through Facebook. Several RECOILweb readers have asked about the some of the boonie hats seen in images from the Greenside tracking course. Those were Slangvels. Slangvel is an Afrikaans word meaning snakeskin. It's also a disabled veteran owned business with a very good reputation (for smocks and other garments too, not just boonie hats). Here's the Nomad Recce hat. It features a 2 1/2″ brim with side vents. It opens to mosquito netting inside to keep out bugs. Available fitted or adjustable and you can choose a 2 1/2″ brim if preferred. Also features a high visibility insert that can be used for signalling purposes. This is the Kryptek Nomad with mesh upper. It's the same one you've seen Quoc Ha of Q Concepts wearing in the tracking pictures. Brim is 1 3/4″ wide. Available fitted or adjustable and you can choose a 2 1/2″ brim if preferred. These hats are a Rhodesian neck flap style cap. The neck flap folds up and buttons out of the way when not needed. It runs $40.00, delivered anywhere in the US, postal money orders only. It can also be made in other camouflage patterns. Lastly, check out the German M43 WWII style hat in US Woodland camo. Available in any size. If interested, contact Slangvel on Facebook or send a money order and the size required (unless you want it adjustable) to David Frantz; PO Box 502; Bourbonnais, IL 60914. You can also reach Mr. Frantz at graywolf47(at)comcast.net.
