Learn More If you're anything like me, your range bag has a whole lot of random gear in it. While my Grey Ghost Gear Range Bag has helped somewhat with organization, it's still nowhere near OCD level. Many times I'll end up digging through and not finding the specific tool that I need. During my almost-annual cleaning, I pulled out hundreds of rounds of 9mm ammo, a random assortment of 5.56, and no less than three different multi-tools. Recently I got my hands on a couple of Fix It Sticks gun kits. Fix It Sticks makes kits specifically for shooting and cycling–both activities where an easy-to-stow kit that can be readily stashed are a huge boon. First, let's take a look at the AR-15 kit: It's pretty obvious this is a general purpose kit, and there are some items I find extraneous. Inside you get: ►Set of Fix It Sticks ►Bolt Carrier Group Scraper ►Metal Pin Punch ►Castle Nut Wrench ►Bronze Scraper ►Steel Pick ►Non-Marring Plastic Pin Punch ►Cleaning Brush Bit ►A2 Front Sight Adjustment Bit ►Set of Brass Cleaning Rods (can accept 8-32 threaded attachments) ►Set of two bit adapters to allow for 8-32 threaded components ►12 Chrome Plated 1/4″ Bits The BCG and bronze scrapers will probably never be used, but the sight adjuster and brush will definitely get some love. Add in a bore snake, a set of Allen keys, and a little bottle of lube and you can keep a gun running for a long time. The bits will come in handy, and are much higher in quality than the Harbor Freight junk that invariably ends up in the bag. Now the Fix It Sticks Torque Limiter kit? Oh yes, this is the one I was most excited for. Like many, I use a dedicated torque wrench when locking down optics and other accessories. But where is it? At home on my workbench. No such problems if you have this one in hand. While you can't specify torque to individual inch-pounds like a dedicated device, you do have some selections. Have a look at the contents: ►65 Inch Lbs miniature torque limiter ►45 Inch Lbs miniature torque limiter ►25 Inch Lbs miniature torque limiter ►15 Inch Lbs miniature torque limiter ►T-Way T-Handle Wrench ►16 different bits ►1/2″ Socket and 1/4″ bit adapter set ►Extended 3/16″ Ball End Hex bit designed to reach the action screws of such Chassis systems as JAllen, Accuracy International, Remington 700, and Masterpiece Arms. These will absolutely cover most of your bases. Going mongo on a screw and stripping or breaking it like an ass no more. Note that each tool/piece holder is the same, so you can swap them out at will. On the Fix It Stick webpage you can order individual parts and really make it your own (I see a bottle opener in my future). And these aren't just thrown into a bag, the soft cases feature elastic loops for the Fix It Sticks and a mesh pouch for anything you want to add–like a bore snake or bottle of lube. Two tabs securely hold the tool carrier in place. The front of each soft case features Velcro for a magnetic patch to hold bits while working. And there's MOLLE/PALS webbing on the back. If you have webbing on your range bag a pair of MALICE clips or MOLLE-Lok is an easy button. I did something a little different and threaded some shock cord to attach the cases together. I also left enough cord to allow it to be wrapped around the cases. Rando tools in my bag–no more.
